More ways to be active during in motion Month
Perth County ― During this October’s third annual in motion month, Perth residents will have more free activities to choose from. The Huron Perth in motion group is inviting community organizations and for-profit businesses to participate by offering free physical activities. The goal of the month is to get residents moving more. In the past, the group has only promoted activities of municipal and non-profit recreation providers.
Huron Perth in motion Co-chair, Katherine Horst, says they are reaching out to Perth County businesses and organizations so that residents will have more options to be physically active. “We know our communities have a wide range of opportunities for people to be active but residents don’t always know what’s available. By inviting organizations and businesses that offer those opportunities, we’re better serving the community.”
Whether it’s a trail walk, an active games night, a badminton lesson or a fitness class, Horst says community groups and for-profit businesses that offer physical activities can be part of in motion month by agreeing to offer free sessions to the public. In motion will then publicize those activities in its promotions and on its website. “We think it’s a win-win,” adds Horst. “Residents will be getting active and perhaps trying something new, while participating organizations have the potential to gain new members or customers.”
If a business or other community group is interested in joining in motion month, they can get the participation guidelines and application from www.hpinmotion.ca or by calling Katherine Horst at 519-271-7600 ext 745. Listowel area residents call 1-877-271-7348 ext 745.
